NO, i did not do ANYTHING to those gorgeous blue eyes in Photoshop.

Introducing Drita, Albert, & Adrian

I started out 9 months ago shooting my friends.
And then their friends.
And their friends.
And what's happened lately, as Christmas card season has hit,
is that I am shooting all my favorite people in the world,
and also a lot of their friends.
Photography is a perfect fit for me,
because I LOVE the art, the process, the work,
and I just love people.
I'm an extrovert. And I love babies like no one you've ever seen.
Which means my job is pretty much perfect for me.

Albert & Drita are some friends of friends.
You know how you meet some people,
and instantly just love them?
That's how I felt with this sweet family.
Instant love...they are so sweet, and so kind.

sweet Adrian

In other photography-related thoughts...
I think I'm really hitting my stride.
Good thing about Christmas card season?
Lots of shoots in a short amount of time...
it's like a crash course...
sink or swim.
I've really struggled for 9 months with my "style".
I don't really know how I'd define it.
My shooting style, my editing style-
it's felt really random.
But these last few shoots I've done,
I feel like everything is starting to click
and just fall together.
Drita & Albert's shoot to me represents MOST
what I want my "style" to be.
For today anyway. ;)

Jodie, Tommy, Luke, & Will

These are our sweet friends Jodie and Tommy.
Their precious boys are just 11 months apart-
just like my hubs & his brother!

The ducks came up to play!
I'm going to be very disappointed if there are no ducks in our family pics
that we are having our friends The Turners take in Hermann Park
in a couple weeks. I'll have to remember to bring snacks. ;)

I mean, how good-looking are they?
It's ridiculous. ;)

Happy Birthday, Babe!

The Hubs is turning 32 today.
He had a Freebirds "birthday" coupon that we used yesterday at lunch.
He asked the girl ringing us up,
"Could I pass for 21?"
She laughed.

For those of you who are always voting for
"Elizabeth looks just like her daddy",
I give you this picture as evidence to further support your case.
And ps- could he be any cuter?
And I'm totally digging the retro Craig's Cleaners shirt.

OK, seriously, y'all.
Doesn't that cake look like it belongs on Cake Wrecks?
I mean, is that a DEAD CLOWN?
What the...?

Longhorn for Life!

My man was born 32 years ago today, a teeny tiny preemie, 6 weeks early and on Thanksgiving Day. He has grown up to be an amazing man, husband and father. He supports me, encourages me, loves me, and makes me laugh so hard I almost pee my pants. I am so grateful that God chose him for me, and cannot imagine my life without him. Happy Birthday, babe. I'm so glad you were born! I love you.

Ally & David are some of our very best friends,
and we just love their family to pieces.

You should remember him by now.
He's Elizabeth's One True Love.
(Besides her Daddy and Jesus, I mean.)

And here's Elizabeth's best friend, Laurel.

Ally is THE Ally behind Little Bears Designs,
creator of brilliant birthday party invites, birth announcements,

And um, hello, it is TIME for you to order your Christmas cards, peeps!
Don't know if you've noticed, but it's November 23rd.

Email her TODAY before she gets swamped with orders after Thanksgiving!!!

(If you'd like one of your Fish Lips Photography photos
in your Christmas card, just let me know which one,
and I can email it directly to her, to save you time.)

Brianna brings along her parents.

Remember sweet Brianna?
The one I photographed last month HERE?
The one who won, and still wins, the award for the
EASIEST baby I've ever photographed?
Well, this time she brought along her parents
so we could do a family photo shoot!

I just love that little girl.
She's so good to me.

Introducing Alana, Rocky, Matthew, & Jordan

Well, really, it's Matthew & Jordan's "encore".
They've been on the blog before,
when I photographed this sweet family back in March HERE.

To Elizabeth at 17 months

Things you say:

Hi
Bye bye
Uh-oh
Oh no!
Thank you
Doggie
Baby
Mommy
Daddy
Jesus
Love you
Cracker
Phoebe
Night Night

Sweet baby girl. You are 17 months old and it’s official. 17 months is my FAVORITE age so far. You are HILARIOUS. We laugh at each other all day long. You are sweet and kind and loving. You remain an extrovert. You might play shy with them at first, but you LOVE to be out and about with other people. You LOVE babies. You lose your mind when you’re around them. Whenever you’re around Karis Kiser you give her at least 25 kisses on the lips. You walk around the house with your favorite 2 baby dolls all day long. You feed them a bottle, and are quite insistent that they go to bed with you each nap & night, and that mommy better NOT forget them when I get you out of the crib when you wake. You started walking a month ago- right when you turned 16 months old. I was SO READY for you to walk on your own- you were a bit later than most, because you are this delightful combination of extremely laid-back and very cautious. When I would tell people that I was ready for you to walk, they’d say, “oh no, you’re not! There's no stopping them once they’re walking!” Well, baby, those folks were WRONG. There is nothing that brings me more joy than the sight of you walking around our house, finally on your own. There is nothing more precious to my heart than walking side by side with you to your classroom at the church for Mother’s Day Out, your whole hand wrapped around one finger of mine, as we trek along at a snails pace. I know you’ll eventually get faster and want to run away from me, so I am soaking up these early walking days, when your face lights up with your accomplishment, independence, and pride in yourself. Speaking of independence, oh sister, you WANT it. ;) We’ve started letting you feed yourself yogurt with a spoon. Ugh. The other day you shoved it up your nose. We went Christmas shopping (for others) at Toys R Us last week. When I wasn’t looking, you’d grab something you wanted off the shelf and casually toss it behind you into the basket. It was the most hilarious thing I’d ever seen. I had to keep taking things out of the basket. I cannot even TAKE you down the baby doll aisle. You go nutso. This week, you showed off your skills by figuring out a way around the child safety locks on the bottom cabinets in the kitchen. I watched you work at it, and you finally figured out, “if I pull the cabinet door and push down this little white thing at the same time, I think that’ll do it!”. When you finally opened it all the way up the first time, I gasped, and you turned around and went, “HAHA!” with such a look of pride on your face. Honest-to-goodness, I could not get mad or bring myself to discipline you because I was so proud that you’d figured it out. You’re a smart girl, Elizabeth. I was taking a picture of you the other day and you said, “cheese!”. I have NO IDEA where you got that from. I NEVER tell you to say cheese. I’m a photographer and hate the “cheese smile”, so I never tell people I’m shooting to say cheese. I literally have no clue where you got that. Also, don’t know who taught you the Itsy Bitsy Spider. It’s not one we’ve sung around here in a while. But the other day, I was changing your diaper (which by the way, BOTH of us hate doing. I don’t know why you are always so annoyed), and to distract you I started singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider. You absolutely lit up, and started doing the motions to it with your little fingers. Again, you didn’t get that from me. It’s so fun to see you learning while you’re out there in the world without me- with great babysitters like Hannah or at Mother’s Day Out at the church with Miss Molly & Miss Caroline. The other day, before I put you to bed for the night, you snuggled your nose into the crook of my neck for a little cuddle, and I sang you “Jesus Loves Me”. When I finished, you sat up and looked at me and started clapping. Oh, I laughed so hard. I just love you, little one. You bring so much joy into my life!

Love,
Mama
