Ah, the good ole days

Not fun.

Phoebe and I packed up the car and drove to Mississippi yesterday.
It was a rough trip. Phoebe is normally a good traveler, but on
this trip, anxiety got the better of her. I wanted to pull out a
doggie valium or something.

She has never in her life ridden in the car without being in
someone's lap, but yesterday, for the first few hours,
this was the only place she found comfort:

It was a yucky drive in general. It rained the whole time,
and there was a wreck outside Baton Rouge, so we were sitting
at a dead stop on the interstate for a WHILE.
What should have been a 6 and a half hour drive ended up
being 8 and a half hours. Ugh.

What?!

It just hit me this week that I am 6 months pregnant.
When the hell did THAT happen?

I heart her.

Seriously, y'all, I know that if our paths ever crossed,
Reese and I would be best friends.

Our 30th Birthday Photo Shoot

Almost 3 weeks ago I went home to Mississippi to spend
a weekend with my college girlfriends.
It was decided that because it is the year we all turn 30,
and it's the first time every single one of us has made the
reunion since college, we should have a little photo shoot
to celebrate.

I love this one because we're standing outside of our
freshman dorm, where we all met in 1997.

pretty baby

You knew any child of Halle Berry would be gorgeous,
but this is just ridiculous:

I love you, purple tree.

I have no idea what kind of tree this is.
But every year, when I am about ready to just
scream bloody murder because it's January
and I am so freaking SICK of cold weather,
this tree brings me hope. This particular variety
of tree is bare all winter, and then one day, out of the blue,
it's filled with purple blossoms.

It will eventually turn all green, but those first signs
of purple make me want to weep with happiness.
I hate cold weather. I completely despise the month of January.
When I spy this tree at the end of January,
it is like someone is holding up a neon sign that says,
"Hold on. Spring is coming soon. Warm weather is on the way."
Thank you, God.

Mr. President

I'm totally loving this photo right now:

No matter your politics, the man is cool, no?

It's just nice to see that he can be the president,
and still be just a dude who likes beer and basketball.

Two weeks ago...

My girlfriends from Mississippi College have a reunion
every year. For various reasons, I have never made it to one
before this year. I was sooooo excited to hop on a plane
to Jackson two weeks ago to see these girls who have made
me feel so loved and made me laugh so hard.

Lauren, Cara, Katie, Elaine, Allison, Cyndi, Charise, me, & Brooke
We're all turning 30 this year- YIKES- and went out for dinner
at Juleps to celebrate.

This picture makes me laugh so hard.
Cyndi, Charise, and I got to blow out the candles to our
big 30th birthday cake.

Elaine, Allison, me, and Cyndi
Since this was Elaine's year to plan the reunion, we all bought
each other gifts that started with the letter "E". We opened
them one at a time and had to guess who each gift was from.

Brooke brought her sweet baby Olivia Kate with her.
